MANILA: Veteran multi-awarded actress and Papal Awardee Martina Eileen “Ai-Ai” De Las Alas publicly admitted that one of the reasons behind her upcoming church wedding is because she wants to set an example for her children, especially for her daughter.
“…I want to set a good example for my children, especially for my daughter…or those remaining fans of mine who know that this is the right thing to do,” shared the actress during a guesting on Radio Veritas 846AM Hello Father 911 on July 17, Monday, referring to the need for couples to get married in church after citing her dark past of failed marriages.
“…I want the Lord to see…that I follow His law, that a baptized Catholic should undergo the Sacrament of Matrimony,” she emphasized.
Being together forever
According to the actress who is known as the “Tanging Ina” (Outstanding Mother) of Show business, she hopes her daughter will have “a beautiful marriage” starting with a church wedding and that she will eventually have a good relationship with her husband.
She also affirmed the belief that blessings will surely pour on a relationship through the Sacrament of Matrimony after a texter on the radio program testified to his friends experiencing such after helping them get married in the Catholic Church.
Most importantly, De Las Alas added that the main reason she wants to get married in church is her desire to be with her beloved forever.
“As they say, the very reason you want to be married or that you got married is that you want to be with the person you love forever,” she said, “Yes, road to forever…I love Gerald and that’s the reason why I want to get married with him. Just like the promise said in church [during the wedding vows] that you’ll be together in wealth and in strife, in life and in death.”
She then asked “kapanaligs” or listeners of the radio program to pray for her and Gerald Sibayan–her fiancé who accompanied her on the program–and their upcoming union, especially since she went through a divorce and a civil annulment in the past.
Ai-Ai De Las Alas received the Pontifice Ecclesia Et Pontifice Award, the highest award given by the Pope to a member of the laity, in November 2016 for her outstanding and selfless works of service and mercy for the poor and for the Catholic Church. CBCPNews
