AMRSWP Peace Covenant Statement with the United Meranaw Mothers in Marawi

We, the Association of Major Religious Superiors Women in the Philippines, are weavers of peace. Women in history and cultural traditions have always been crucial in preserving social orders when communities collapsed.

Essentially, peace cannot exist without respect for human dignity, differences in religions, faith beliefs and cultural traditions. Peace is not the mere absence of violence and wars. Peace is justice.

As peace weavers, we, women religious superiors are in a privileged position to build spaces and systems to allow peace, harmony, justice and dialogue to flourish, prosper and take root in our beings and our relationships with all of creation.

We are aware that purity of heart, mind and will are requisite to establish peace. We are God’s instruments to build a better world through relationship and harmony among ourselves. We yield to a peaceful coexistence and interfaith dialogue. And so, we resolve to foster a culture of peace initiatives in our different fields of work in solidarity especially with the Meranaw Women Leaders.
