“With God, we have a future.”
This was one of the main messages Baguio Bishop Victor Bendico gave during a Mass celebrated on July 1 with the delegates of the 5th Joint National Annual Family Media Advocacy – Doctors for Life Conference at the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish here.
Drawing messages from the day’s Gospel about Jesus raising a dead child to life, the bishop said one’s future finds meaning in God.
‘Author of Life’
“The risen Lord is the very basis for the future of the little girl and the future of all of us… With the risen Lord, life has meaning, faith has meaning, heaven is open for us,” explained Bendico.
According to the prelate, despite being “ridiculed” by many throughout the ages, God’s power is undeniable.
“[In] the creation story in the Bible, it is clear He is the author of life. …And creating us, He has a plan for us,” he said. “God works wonders and nobody can stop Him from doing it.”
Hundreds of delegates
Bendico also exhorted the faithful to trust in God’s goodness.
“Who can outdo God in kindness and generosity? …. Let us continue to praise Him, He has rescued us because He loves us. This is a message valid for us and for all generations. God calls us, He sees us, He owns us, and only His love for us can explain this,” he added.
Focusing on the theme “Family: Bedrock of Civilization,” this year’s annual pro-life conference gathered hundreds of delegates from Batangas, Metro Manila, Quezon, Davao, among others.
