How “attainable” is holiness? If you’ve ever wondered look no further than Mary.
This was the gist of the message of Cubao Bishop and Malolos Apostolic Administrator Honesto F. Ongtioco during a recent Marian feast day.
“We must always remember that our celebration of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception shows to us how Mary is the sign of our hope. She reveals to us how we should hope for salvation. She gives us inspiration to become holy people,” said the prelate on Dec. 8, 2018 during the Immaculate Conception Parish – Cathedral & Minor Basilica and Immaculate Conception Major Seminary communities’ celebration of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception.
Malolos Vicar General Pablo S. Legaspi, Jr., together with the Cathedral Team Ministry, priests from the Malolos Vicariate, and the seminary fathers celebrated the Misa Mayor celebration at 6:00 a.m.
“May we live out what Mary shows to us. She shows to us how to be like her Son, Our Lord. May we do the same in responding to the call of the Lord for each one of us to be like him,” said Ongtioco, who elaborated on the 2018 fiesta theme “MARIA: Buklod ng Pagtugon sa Tawag ng Diyos.”
Besides the aforementioned, the Immaculate Conception is also the titular patroness of four archdioceses namely: Capiz, Ozamiz, Cotabato and Zamboanga; five dioceses, namely: Urdaneta, Antipolo, Boac, Virac, and the Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Princesa.
