Fatima icon to visit Samar
CALBAYOG City, Samar – In celebration of the centenary of the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin in Fatima, Portugal, a pilgrim image is scheduled to visit three dioceses in Samar island this May.
Fr. Rico Manook of St. Rock the Healer Mission Center in Cawayan, Catarman, Northern Samar, told CBCP News through text message about the said visit of the Our Lady of Fatima image to the island.
The priest was thrilled to share that his church, which is also the Diocesan Shrine of the Black Nazarene, was among the churches selected to be visited by the holy icon from Portugal.
The following is the schedule of the visits:
- May 9-14 (Calbayog Diocese)
- May 14-17 (Catarman Diocese)
The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) through Bishop Guillermo D. Afable of the Diocese of Digos, Liaison Bishop of the Fatima Centennial Celebration, endorsed only two official pilgrim images to tour the country: first is the National Pilgrim image based in the National Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, and the one in the custody of the World Apostolate of Fatima (WAF) Philippines.
