A new milestone was marked on May 6 by the Pope John Paul II National Institute for Studies on Marriage and the Family in the Diocese of Bacolod with the blessing of the new dormitory building, known as the St. John Paul II Center, located within the Sacred Heart Seminary compound in Bacolod City.

The new building will serve as lodging for the students of the Masters Program on Marriage and the Family while enrolled in Bacolod.
The JP II Institute offers anew its four-cycle summer Masters program for students coming from different dioceses of the Philippines from May 5-27, 2018.
The 33 participants from different archdioceses and dioceses for this year’s summer program consist of the following: seven from Ipil, five from Cagayan de Oro, two each from Surigao, Cebu, Ozamis, and Legazpi, and one each from Zamboanga, Davao, Jaro, Laoag, Baguio, Urdaneta, San Pablo, Laguna, Balanga, Bacolod, Kabankalan, Masbate, Antipolo and Tagum.

The University of St. La Salle, in collaboration with the JPII Institute, grants the degree of Master of Arts in Education specializing on Marriage and Family.
According to JPII Institute Director Fr. Ronaldo Quijano, the graduates of the program can serve as teachers and family life ministers in their respective dioceses or parishes, institutes of formation and Catholic educational institutions.
They are also trained professionally to serve in the commissions on Family and Life and administer the institutes of formation in their dioceses.
“With the encouragement of the main campus in Rome, the JPII Institute in Bacolod has extended its services to other dioceses, upon the request of the respective bishops, to give lecture series and formation of priests and lay pastoral workers, which will lead to the establishment of a local Institute on Marriage and Family that, in turn, can offer a pastoral Diploma Course on Family Ministry,” Quijano added.
This year the John Paul II Institute-Bacolod has a new set of administrators: Bacolod Bishop Patricio Buzon is the Chairman of the Institute; Lipa Archbishop and ECFL Chairman Gilbert Garcera is the Advisor of the Institute; Fr.
