MANILA– The Diocese of Kalookan has appealed for more aid to families that were rendered homeless after a fire razed down their houses.
Speaking over Radio Veritas, Caritas Kalookan head Fr. Benedict John Cervantes termed the situation as unfortunate and promising to help them resume a normal life.
“We are still in need of water, mattresses, clothes, food, and medicine for the children,” Cervantes said.
He said donations may be coursed through the diocese or directly to the affected parish of San Lorenzo Ruiz.
A huge fire that hit a residential area has displaced at least 1,200 families in Barangay North Bay Boulevard North in Navotas City last Tuesday.
The priest said they appreciate all the assistance already given to the fire victims but more help is needed.
“There have been parishes that already responded by sending goods directly to the affected parish, which is the San Lorenzo Luiz Parish,” he added. CBCPNews
