A group of young people from San Pedro, Laguna are pooling resources together to give one of the most forgotten members of society, the abandoned elderly, a day of joy, warmth, and answered prayers on May 20, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Hospicio de San Jose in Manila.
“[We are doing this] to be able to help and to make the grandmas and grandpas, who no longer have families, happy,” explained Edward Era, founder of Samahan ng Nagkakaisang Kabataan ng (SNK) San Pedro.
Having organized similar outreaches annually for 6 years now in partnership with the Munting Hiling Foundation, he said he believes the elderly “deserve to be happy,” noting how some seniors he has encountered talk about simply “waiting for God to get them.”
Targeting 120 beneficiaries, SNK San Pedro is calling on the public to donate the following items:
- Fruits such as apples, bananas, grapes, pears, oranges
- Laundry soap / detergent
- Hygiene kits (Bath soap, toothbrush, tooth paste, shampoo)
- Hair dye
- Hair comb
- Milk for adults
- Pre-owned or new clothes
