Catholics worldwide observed Palm Sunday, marking the beginning of the Holy Week leading to the Christ’s crucifixion, death and resurrection.
Palm Sunday is held is commemoration of Jesus Christ’s humble and triumphant entry to Jerusalem, only to be crucified five days later by the very people who welcomed him.
At the celebration of the Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion, processions led by bishops and priests were held in all parishes nationwide wherein Catholics carried palm branches, signifying the welcoming gestures Jesus received on his entry into the holy city.
In Manila, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle encouraged the people to imitate Christ’s humble obedience to the Father, stressing that Holy Week is about humility.
