The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manila has released a prayer for the slain priests and other victims of killings.

“Lock the lips and restrain the arms of those who shatter peace and foment hatred that lead to violence,” the prayer reads.

“We pray for our government officials. Make them conscious always of the common good and work for the welfare, well-being, safety and peace of all citizens under their care. Instil in them a fear from acting on selfish interests and evil designs,” it also said.

Parish churches in Manila are encouraged to continue offering masses and prayers for the victims of killings.

Manila archdiocesan chancellor Fr. Regie Malicdem said the prayer could be used in community prayers, or before or after the Mass.

He said that it could also replace the usual format of the Prayer of the Faithful at Mass.

The prayer is available in English and Tagalog versions.
