Mindanao gathering to discuss ‘cultural challenges’ of the family

DAVAO City – Family and Life Apostolate Workers from different dioceses in Mindanao are set to gather from Feb. 9 to 11 to discuss the cultural and pastoral challenges besetting the family.
Reflecting on the theme, “Family: Seedbed of Vocation,” the regional assembly of Episcopal Commission on Family and Life – CBCP (ECFL-CBCP) Mindanao will be held at the MerGrande Ocean Resort here.
Fr. Orlando Angelia, director of the Family and Life Apostolate of the Archdiocese of Davao, said they organized the said gathering to give “paramount importance” to the family apostolate of the Church as the family plays a vital role in the well-being of the Church and of society.
The priest added that as the family, “the seedbed of vocations,” faces various challenges , the group wants to explore common pastoral actions.
The FLA workers will also have updating, coordination, and setting up of family-related pastoral programs.
Different talks about the Church and family will be delivered by various speakers led by Archbishop of Lipa Gilbert Garcera, chairman of the Episcopal Commission on Family and Life of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (ECFL-CBCP).
Br. Carlito Gaspar, C.Ss.R will also deliver a talk on “Understanding the Culture of Mindanao.”
The three-day gathering also hopes to promote camaraderie among the FLA workers of Mindanao to boost effectiveness of their apostolate. CBCPNews
