The Novaliches diocese’s Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC Nova) released “pocket films” about stories from the grassroots meant to inspire young people.
The short films were released during the BEC Nova District Big Days held on three Saturdays of September.
BEC Nova Lay Coordinator Joe Mar Maulion said there are so many stories from the grassroots in the parishes that could inspire others, especially the young people.
“These pocket films are very good to promote these stories and we intend to come out with more,” Maulion said.
By pocket films, he was referring to the three videos titled “Kwentong BEC 2019″ that were thematic with “Lupa” tackling land ownership issue faced by the residents of Pangarap Village in Caloocan City; the “Sugat”, which deals on verbal abuses; and “Pagsubok” which focuses on traumas brought by natural calamities.
The films were released on Sept. 14 for the Commonwealth District at the New Capitol Estates Covered Court and on Sept. 21 for the Caloocan District at the Congress Elementary School in Bagumbong, Caloocan City.
The videos, created in partnership with the Diocese of Novaliches Social Communications and Media Ministry, were also shown for the Quirino-Tandang Sora District at Rockville Subdivision in Brgy. San Bartoleme, Quezon City on Sept. 28.
Kwentong BEC 2019 is an offshoot of the same title launched two years ago during BEC Nova’s celebration of the Year of the Parish where a movie-making competition among the parishes of Novaliches was held.
The contest, titled “Mga Mumunting Kwentong BEC” or MMKB involved an online competition at the Diocesan YouTube Channel. The grand prize winner in MMKB that was entitled, “Kwentong BEC”, which also won in an international indie film competition.
This year’s BEC District Big Days was also held in coordination with the Diocese of Novaliches Commission on Youth in celebration of the Year of the Youth.
