Priest gives 3 child-like qualities to emulate
Msgr. Ranilo Trillana shares about three noble virtues during the feast of the Child Jesus at the Sto. Niño de Parada parish in Sta. Maria, Bulacan, Jan. 21, 2018.
Sta. Maria, Bulacan – As the faithful of Sto. Niño Parish in Parada, Sta. Maria, Bulacan joined the rest of the Church in the Philippines in celebrating the Feast of the Child Jesus on Jan. 21, a priest reminded them to keep the child-like qualities of innocence, humility, and faithfulness to God.
“Jesus used children as models in order to become worthy in the eyes of God,” said Msgr. Ranilo Trillana in his homily. “Children have lots of good characteristics that we should retain as we age.”
According to the priest, a child’s innocence makes him “a perfect medium of God’s grace.” They are pure-hearted and guiltless, he added. Second, children are also great examples of humility, explained Trillana, as they do not have anything to be proud of, not to mention, they rely on their parents for proper care and security. According to him, last are the values of faithfulness and loyalty; children fully give their trust to their parents.
“Possessing these three attributes; innocence, humility, and faithfulness to God… in dealing with our brothers and sisters and in forming a true Christian community, may we all feel the presence of God in our lives and in serving the Church,” concluded Trillana during a Mass to celebrate the feast with the theme “Transforming servant leaders towards a renewed Evangelization.”
Children present were also asked to receive blessings before the end of the Mass. Parish priest Fr. Angel Santiago presided over the Mass. CBCPNews
