The clergy of the Vicariate of Puerto Princesa staged a concert-for-a-cause that was both entertaining and moving, on Nov. 30 at the Puerto Princesa City Coliseum.
Bishop Socrates Mesiona moved many in the crowd to tears with his performance of “He ain’t Heavy, He’s my Brother” by Hollies.
“I can carry you all. I will not get tired because you are my brothers,” Bishop Mesiona said before singing, referring to his brother-priests. The prelate specially noted how some senior priests carry the “burden” of physical sickness.
Fr. Nito Bundac, who performed from a wheelchair, shared to the crowd: “I am not afraid, because with God, I know, I will never walk alone.”
Some 10,000 people enjoyed the singing and dancing prowess of the priests who performed several latest hits, including their own version of Momoland’s Baam. The older clergy got a little serious with their Tinikling dance.
With the help of benefactors, the concert was able to raise not less than Php1 million for the hospitalization fund of the clergy.
Dubbed the “You Shall be my Witness” concert, the event was held back-to-back with the “Bugsayan Festival,” the annual gathering of the faithful of the vicariate.
