Statement of the Diocese of Cabanatuan on the death of Rev. Fr. Marcelito A. Paez
The Clergy, Religious and the Lay Faithful of the Diocese of Cabanatuan condemn in the strongest terms the brutal killing of the Rev. Fr. Marcelito A. Paez last night in Jaen, Nueva Ecija. We convey to the faithful of the Diocese of San Jose, as well as to the family and friends of Fr. Paez, our sincerest condolences and assurances of prayers in this moment of grief and bereavement. We commend his soul to the merciful Lord whom he served faithfully for almost five decades as a priest. May the Chief Shepherd grant him fullness of life, light and peace in his Kingdom.
We also pray that justice may be rightfully served for Fr. Paez, and that peace may reign in our country and the whole world. We likewise join the faithful of the Diocese of San Jose in their call for an impartial and thorough investigation of the case. Finally, we enjoin our brothers and sisters of good will to work for peace and to reject the culture of violence and impunity in our society. May Mary, the Queen of Peace, keep us in her mantle of protection and guide our feet into the way of peace.
