JARO, ILOILO

As a public manifestation of unity of the Family and Life Ministry in the region of Western Visayas, the ecclesiastical Provinces of Jaro and Capiz will hold a synchronized prayer vigil for family and life issues on divorce, SOGIE, same-sex union on the feast days of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, later today, June 8 until tomorrow, June 9.

In the Archdiocese of Jaro a “prayer vigil to promote and protect the sanctity and integrity of marriage, family, and life” is scheduled on June 8, feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., at the Jaro Metropolitan Cathedral, Jaro Plaza, Iloilo City.

“We would like to open our minds and heart towards deeper awareness that God’s love grows in families as ‘seedbed of vocations,’” said Fr. Randy Doromal, director of the Jaro Archdiocesan Commission on Family and Life.

‘One with the Church’

“Hence, we are inviting everyone, who is ‘one with the Church in her mission’, to show your presence as we gather in prayer in defense of the good of marriage and the family,” the priest added.
The faithful are reminded to bring with them candles with “catchers” and the rosary for the event.

According to Doromal, the synchronized prayer vigil was agreed upon by the 118 participants of the 11th Summit of the Archdiocesan and Diocesan Commissions on Family and Life of the Metropolitan Sees of Capiz and Jaro held in Kalibo, Aklan, from April 24 to 26.

Wanted: prayer warriors

  • Aside from the synchronized prayer vigil, the directors on family and life, family and life ministers, and family and life workers and volunteers resolved to:
  • To equip family and life ministers in their pastoral accompaniment of families by way of psycho-spiritual integration;
  • To have official primers from the Metropolitan Sees of Capiz and Jaro as sources of information for massive information education dissemination to respond to issues that threaten and destroy the integrity of the family and of human life; and
  • To propagate and intensify “prayer warriors” for family and life ministry, such as the Rosary for Life Movement.

“We have a vision of a unified family and life ministry for the ecclesiastical provinces of Jaro and Capiz that is one with the Church in her mission to promote and protect the sanctity and integrity of marriage, family, and life,” the priest explained.

“For this, we need ministers, communities, and Christian families that are formed integrally, empowered by the strength of God through prayers, and inspired by the Blessed Mother,” said Doromal.

The ecclesiastical provinces of Jaro and Capiz comprise the Archdioceses of Capiz and Jaro, the Dioceses of San Carlos, San Jose de Antique, Bacolod, Kabankalan, Kalibo, and Romblon.
