Bearing umbrellas, dozens of young pilgrims braved the downpour and the long-distance “pilgrimage walk” to honor Saint Clare of Assisi.
Rain fell throughout the pilgrimage on Saturday but it didn’t stop the pilgrims from joining the 20-kilometer walk from the Borongan Cathedral to the Monastery of the Divine Mercy in the town of Maydolong.
Joined by around 80 young people, the pilgrimage walk preceded the second novena Mass sponsored by the Borongan cathedral parish in honor of the Italian saint.
The monastery is under the Sisters of the Order of St. Clare, more commonly known as Poor Clare.
Louie Apigo, one of the pilgrims, noted the increasing number of pilgrims who joined the procession.
“We are happy that we did it. Despite heavy rainfall, we enjoyed our journey, this is for the Lord through St. Claire,” he said. CBCPNEWS
