During the Marian Youth Camp held at Baliuag University Gym in Baliuag, Bulacan, Sept. 7 to 8, Fr. Joseph Franz Dizon urged the young people to imitate how Mary responded to God’s call with courage. “Have the courage to offer yourselves freely to God through your service to the Church and to those people in need,” he said.
“Do not be afraid to make a decision for a greater purpose and [to] imitate Mary,” Dizon further explained. “Mary made a decision that may not be acceptable to everyone when she answered yes to God because she firmly believed that the call is for a higher purpose and that is to become a part of God’s salvation of mankind through Jesus Christ.”
Meanwhile, parish priest Msgr. Andres Varela told the youth camp participants to participate in the vigil “with love, for Mary and for Jesus Christ.”
Organized by Mama Mary’s Flock (MMF) and the St. Augustine Parish Commission on Youth (PCY), the Marian Youth Camp aims to invite more youth to serve the Church and to deepen their understanding of Mary’s role in the life of faith.
MMF head Joey Marte and PCY chairman Cedie Garcia also encouraged the participants not to hesitate to join Church organizations as everyone is welcome to become a part of their apostolate.
The participants were also given a chance to showcase their talents and offer them to the Blessed Virgin. A concelebrated Mass was also offered at the parish church to highlight the event, following a dawn procession held in honor of the Blessed Virgin.
