
4 friars follow in St. Francis of Assisi’s footsteps


ORMOC City, Leyte – Four young friars of the Custody of St. Anthony of Padua – Southern Philippines professed their promise to live the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience on May 31, 2017 in this city, heeding the example of St. Francis of Assisi, founder of the Franciscan Order,
Held at St. Anthony de Padua Novitiate House in Ormoc City, the four friars are Wilfredo C. Badion OFM, Jed Christopher L. Cerera OFM, Ryan Gael A. Galenzoga OFM, and Ritchie Rosales OFM.
According to Fr. Neil Badillo, the newly-professed friars have just completed their novitiate program, a 12-month period “of intense personal, spiritual, and communal formation to follow Jesus Christ in the example of St. Francis of Assisi.”
Their promise was made within the celebration of the Holy Eucharist before the Custos, Fr. Arturo Daquilanea, OFM. The rite was witnessed by other friars, families of the profesandi, friends, and benefactors.
This month, they will proceed to the St. Bonaventure House of Studies in Davao City and join other young friars for their post-novitiate program that includes theological studies at St. Alphonsus de Liguori Theological and Mission Institute (SATMI) also located in Davao City. CBCPNews
