Albay priest infected with Covid-19

The Vice-Rector of Mater Salutis College Seminary in Albay province has tested positive for Covid-19, the Diocese of Legazpi announced Friday.
Fr. Antonio Peralta “is currently quarantined in his place of assignment” in Daraga town, according to a diocese statement.
The priest, who is 64, “had a slight fever and noticed a loss of smell and taste” and was swab tested on Aug. 7.
“We ask the public to pray for the fast and full recovery of Father Peralta and all COVID-19 patients,” said Fr. Rex Paul Arjona, the diocese’s spokesman.
He also asked the public to support the frontliners and government authorities, “and religiously observe prescribed the health standards”.
Fr. Arjona said the diocese made the public announcement to help local health authorities trace with contact tracing efforts.
On July 27, the Archdiocese of Cacares, also in the Bicol region, announced that of two of its priests contracted the coronavirus, but both patients are now recovered.
