A new website has been launched to support the synodal pathway of the Catholic Church in Asia.
Known as Synod Asia, the web portal provides information about the synod and the Church in Asia while making a variety of resources available to support engagement.
A project of the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences – Office of Social Communication, the website was launched during an online meeting on Aug. 29.
Cardinal-elect Sebastian Francis of Penang, who also serves as the head of FABC-OSC, said that the website is an “important reference” for the Church in Asia and all media.
He encouraged everyone to share the resources and the richness of the Synod “as we journey together as people of God.”
In a recorded message, Cardinal Charles Maung Bo of Yangon, the president of FABC, said that there are “many heartwarming stories about the synod,” particularly in Asia, that need to be shared.
The cardinal, who is a member of the Vatican’s Dicastery of Communication and the Ordinary Council of the Synod, stated that the website is a significant resource “so that all the people of God can participate in the synodal journey.”
Pope Francis has called for help to make the Synod on Synodality in October better known to local churches and the faithful.
He specifically appealed to journalists to assist the Church “rediscover the word together”.
The pope emphasized that the word “together” is very important in a culture of exclusion.
