Monsignor Noel Pedregosa, who was appointed by Pope Francis to serve as the new bishop of Malaybalay, will officially assume his new role on September 14.

Bishop-elect Pedregosa, 56, will be ordained and installed as bishop in a Mass at 9:00 a.m. at the San Isidro Labrador Cathedral.

The schedule was announced Friday during the last day of the bishops’ 122nd online plenary assembly.

Pedregosa is currently the Rector of the cathedral. He has also been serving as the administrator of the diocese, which has been vacant since August 2020.

His appointment as bishop was announced by the Vatican on June 29.

The celebration will take place in accord with social distancing rules that are in place in Malaybalay due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The event will be livestreamed on the Facebook page of the diocese and the cathedral.

Pedregosa will be the fifth bishop Malaybalay, succeeding Archbishop Jose Cabantan of Cagayan de Oro.
