Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle blessed a bio-molecular laboratory in Mandaluyong City on Thursday, two weeks after recovering from Covid-19.
The facility is one of the testing laboratories for coronavirus disease run by the Philippine Red Cross (PRC).
Along with PRC chairman and Senator Richard Gordon, Tagle also had a swab test at the new facility as a requirement before flying back to Rome.
The prefect of the Vatican’s Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, also thanked the PRC workers for their service and prayed for their health and safety.
“I am very proud of what you do. It is important that they (Covid-19 patients) feel the care, that they are not just a case, but they are human beings,” the PRC quoted Tagle as saying.
The cardinal tested positive for Covid-19 upon his arrival in Manila from Rome on Sept. 10. He recovered two weeks later, and was released from quarantine.
Gordon, on the other hand, wished the former Manila archbishop good health on his return to his duties at the Vatican.
“I wish Cardinal Tagle good health and more strength with each coming day, and guidance from our Lord as he continues his mission to the Vatican,” he said.
