A church official has warned the faithful against buying statues of a “naked” Sto. Niño, which allegedly brings good luck charms to people.

In a video message, Archbishop Jose Palma of Cebu cautioned the faithful against claims that the archdiocese is promoting the image.

“I didn’t bless any naked Señor Sto. Niño. The things said in the video promotion are not true,” Palma said.

The said image of the “Sto. Niño Hubad” is being offered for free, except for the shipping fee, and is touted to bring good luck.

The Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu, for its part, warned the devotees against “pseudo accounts” using Sto. Niño on social media.

It said any other Facebook pages bearing the name of the basilica “is not in any way connected to the institution.”

“We would like to remind all the faithful to be mindful and careful of these pseudo accounts,” it said.
