Thirty-one thousand fifty cubic centimeters of blood was collected from 69 volunteers during a mass blood donation activity held at Immaculate Conception Cathedral Parish Hall, March 31. The activity was conducted through the collaborative efforts of Bloodline Puerto Puerto Princesa, Palawan Adventist Hospital, City Health Office, MKC Group, and the Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Princesa.
“This is our third year in a row, this time we wanted to partner with the Church and we’ll see how people will respond,” said Bloodline’s Annie Palomares in Filipino.
Based on records, there were 105 who had undergone screening, but some of them, though willing, were barred from donating blood due to low hemoglobin count, high blood pressure, recent ear piercing, and other health considerations, Palomares explained.
“We are happy to support the bloodletting activity in order to help save lives,” said Bishop Socrates Mesiona, who was also present during the activity.
Alpha Rho Sigma 65, JCI Puerto Princesa Kiao, private partners, and faithful in Puerto Princesa also supported the said activity.
