Confab explores architecture-liturgy link

The Manila Cathedral underwent restoration and reopened in 2014. The northwest façade is said to be replica of the façade of the previous cathedral. The church also features statues of saints sculpted in Roman travertine stone.

MANILA – Gathering leading liturgists, designers, and architects, the
“Architecture, Clergy + Lay: At the service of liturgy” conference being held from June 22 to 24 at the UST Museum, Main Building explores the undeniable interconnection of architecture, liturgy, and the role of the clergy and the lay.

The conference also enjoys the presence of foreign guests: Fr. Javier Aizpύn, professor at the Centro Superior de Estudios Teológicos in Pamplona, Spain, and Fr. Juan Rego, assistant director of the Institute of Liturgy, Pontificio Universita della Santa Croce in Rome, Italy. The two priests will give lectures on liturgical architecture and history and inculturation.

The line-up of speakers is as follows:
