MAKATI City
MAKATI City – The rector of San Carlos Seminary (SCS) reminded the faithful that the answers to their most pressing concerns can be found in the Holy Scriptures.
“[Sometimes] by reading the scriptures, we sometimes find the answers to our questions, the solutions to our problems, [because] God speaks through the Holy Scriptures,” said Fr. Joselito “Joey” Martin in Filipino during a conference held at the Layforce Chapel of SCS on Aug. 8.
He said reading the Bible fulfills the “process of discernment” that serves as a bridge to hearing God’s voice.
Two layers
Discernment, the priest said, also includes two important “layers”: listening to our personal consciousness, and giving attention to the people and the realities around us.
“Listen to our personal consciousness, it is important that we surface and acknowledge them. That is important if we are discerning… These things give influence to our [daily] decisions,” he added.
Martin said “true” fulfillment is when people’s dreams goes hand-in-hand with God’s will.
Life-long
“Discernment can [also] be deepened not only in a particular moment but in our whole lives,” said the SCS rector.
The four-hour event, titled “When Friendship with Christ grows Family: Where love of God begins”, was part of the 2018 Katolikong Pinoy Formation Series, a year-long activity organized by the Archdiocese of Manila.
