The lay arm of the bishops’ Episcopal Commission on the Laity is backing the pro-life Buhay party-list for the coming May elections.
The Sangguniang Laiko ng Pilipinas believes Buhay spouses the same goals as Laiko’s to defend and protect the sanctity of human life.
“We are expressing our personal and independent support to the Buhay party-list, which primarily represents our belief in God and the importance of life and family,” said Laiko’s president Raymond Daniel Cruz, Jr.
He said endorsing Buhay party-list is part of the laity’s efforts to empower the faithful to elect leaders with integrity in defending and advancing life.
“We would want the laity to use their power to elect leaders with integrity that can help us defend and advance life,” Cruz said.
He then asked the lay people to properly discern on which party-list should they choose on May 9 polls.
“Let us choose wisely our party-list that will truly advocate advancing the lives of our countrymen, especially the workers, persons with disability, and the poor,” he also said.
Earlier, the leadership of the Council of the Laity of the Philippines also endorsed the presidential bid of Vice President Leni Robredo.
