The National Shrine of the Sacred Heart in Makati City will be hosting a two-day youth conference as part of the Church’s celebration of the Year of the Youth.
Organized by the Parish Youth Ministry (PYM), the Parish Youth Day will tackle social issues affecting the youth, the Church, and society.
Among the topics include spiritual warfare, sexual ethics, and same-sex attraction.
PYM Assistant Coordinator Gjian Gallano said that with the event they also hope to bring their National Youth Day experience in Cebu last April to the Metro.
“The organizing committee hopes to plant a seed to the delegates,” Gallano said.
“Even if the seed is just to help them realize that they have an important role in the evangelistic mission of the church,” he said.
As the Year of the Youth comes to a close on Nov. 24, PYM Coordinator Kristina Abundo hopes “that its graces continue to benefit the whole church will remain.”
“We hope to rekindle the fire of evangelization and mission especially among our youth, today’s servants of the Lord,” she said.
The Parish Youth Day event will be held at the YMCA Function Hall, located across the national shrine in San Antonio Village on Oct. 19-20.
Speakers include Archdiocese of Manila’s Office of Exorcism Chief Exorcist Fr. Jose Francisco Syquia, Catholic Apologist and Radio Veritas Program Host Bro. Marco Evangelista and Manila archdiocese’s Moderator Curiae Msgr. Jose Clemente Ignacio.
