Malolos Bishop Jose Oliveros led the faithful and devotees in bestowing the episcopal crown on the Virgin of La Purisima Concepcion during a Mass and coronation rites held Saturday, March 3, at the La Purisima Concepcion Parish Church in this town.
In his homily, Oliveros said the episcopal coronation is a sign of their love for Mary.
“Mary does not need further honor for she has already received the highest honors from our Father in heaven with His son, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit during her assumption in heaven and her coronation as queen of heaven and earth,” the prelate explained. “Much [more] important is that we are doing our best to follow her holiness.”
“Is the blessed mother really a queen to our hearts and our lives? … Let us offer ourselves to her intercession so that, in due time, she may be able to lead us to the kingdom of her son,” added Oliveros.
Meanwhile, in an interview, parish priest Msgr. Ranilo Trillana urged the faithful to continuous devotion to the Blessed Mother as a way to Jesus Christ.
“This episcopal coronation of the Virgin of La Purisima Concepcion is not merely a visual demonstration to honor her; but, more importantly, this is the faithful’s expression of their deepening devotion and love for her,” he said.
The bishop signed the promulgation of the solemn episcopal coronation of the Virgin of La Purisima Concepcion, Feb. 6, after reviewing the petition of the parish.
Fr. Leocadio De Jesus, episcopal vicar of the eastern district of the diocese, and other members of the Malolos clergy also graced the event.
