Manila Cathedral warns vs fake FB page selling ‘miraculous medals’

The Manila Cathedral has warned the public against a Facebook page using its name to sell “miraculous medals”.

The page uses the name “Manila Cathedral” and managed by someone who claimed to be from the group “Youth for Manila Cathedral”.

The cathedral said the page is selling medals “blessed by priests and bishops from the Vatican” and that proceeds will be for the renovation of the church.

“There is no such thing as medals blessed by bishops, priests, or the Pope for sale. This is a sin called Simony,” it said.

Cathedral authorities also clarified that there is no existing group “Youth for Manila Cathedral”.

“The said Facebook page is not of the Manila Cathedral therefore it is fake,” they said. “Please report their page as fake and warn others of their scam.”
