Marriage encounter movement marks 50 years

The Marriage Encounter Foundation of the Philippines (MEFP) will celebrate its 50th anniversary over the weekend.
Papal nuncio Archbishop Gabriele Caccia will lead the celebration with a Mass at Crowne Plaza Galleria Hotel in Ortigas Complex in Quezon City on Oct. 5.
The archbishop is also the event’s guest of honor and speaker.
The is also a commemoration of the first-ever Marriage Encounter Weekend Seminar held in Manila in October 1969.
MEFP’s President couple Robert-Tinette Aventajado said the gathering will be a homecoming for all couples who have undergone the seminar.
The event will also be highlighted with the presentation of the initial findings of MEFP’s 50th Anniversary Legacy Project, a nationwide survey and study on the changing landscape of marriage and family life conducted by the University of Asia and the Pacific.
Bishop Marcelino Antonio Maralit of Boac will also deliver a message during the occasion.
The celebration will also pay tribute to MEFP founder Jesuit Fr. Ruben Tanseco, who has been in the marriage counseling apostolate for over 50 years.
