Tokyo Olympics 2020 gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz will be among the speakers at this year’s “Jewels Conference” in Manila.

Motivated by the mission of “women serving women,” the organizers invite all women to the conference that will be held at the SMX Convention Center in Manila on July 2.

They said this year’s event is meant to be “a celebration of the Lord’s favor to comfort women, to crown them with beauty, to give messages of joy and songs of praise.”

Diaz became the country’s first Olympic gold medalist after winning the women’s 55-kilogram weightlifting category and credited her historic win to God through the intercession of the Blessed Mother.

Image of Diaz on her final lift went viral after she repeatedly said “Thank you, Lord” and clutched her Miraculous Medal necklace.

After the medal ceremony, she stepped down from the podium, made the Sign of the Cross, and shouted “Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!”

Amid the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic, the Jewels Conference hopes “to empower women in their personal journey of balancing their roles, careers, relationships, and dreams.”

With the theme, “RISE,” the event is also a venue for continuing the mission of Jewels Conference “to bridge and empower women.”

Other speakers include award winning broadcast journalist Bernadette Sembrano-Aguinaldo, and bestselling authors Rissa Singson Kawpeng and Rosanne Romero.

They will also be joined by Canva Philippines’ Social Media and Community Lead Gladys Lacorte-Franco; Marriage, Family Life, and Theology of the Body advocate Rea Santos; and Feast worship singer and songwriter Veia Lim-Viñas.

The conference also supports two ministries for women: “Grace to Be Born”, which helps pregnant women in crisis, and “Jeremiah Foundation”, a shelter for young girls who are sexual abuse survivors.

The conference will be a “hybrid” event with face-to-face “on-site” plenary sessions at the SMX Convention Center in Manila, and online “Masterclasses.”

The 15 Masterclasses by speakers based in the Philippines and abroad will cover the various pressing needs of women.

These will all be available on the Jewels Conference website. Bonus sessions will be held on July 3, Sunday, where participants can join a Zoom room for a Q&A session with some of the class speakers.
