Parañaque youth vigil for vocations set
The Diocese of Parañaque conducts an overnight prayer vigil for vocations on the occasion of the 53rd World Day of Prayer for Vocations. MICHAEL DALOGDOG

MANILA – In line with the 54th World Day of Prayer for Vocations, celebrated on the Fourth Sunday of Easter (Good Shepherd Sunday), the young people of Parañaque are invited to an overnight youth prayer “Magbokasyon sa Bakasyon” vigil called, which carries the theme “Lead in the Spirit of Mission,” from the evening of May 6 until the morning of May 7.

According to Br. John Francis Aberion, RCJ, this year’s event is “more remarkable” because of a lot of activities lined up for the youth.
He recalled the theme of last year’s youth vigil, which focused on answering God’s call to become “a missionary of vocation.”

In a letter for the 54th World Day of Prayer for Vocation, Pope Francis said: “Commitment to mission is not something added on to the Christian life as a kind of decoration, but is instead an essential element of faith itself.”

“A relationship with the Lord,” he added, “entails being sent out into the world as prophets of his word and witnesses of his love.” The Holy Father also called on the faithful to reflect on the missionary dimension of the faith.

Every 4th week of Easter, specially on the World Day of Prayer for Vocations, the Church makes special prayers for more vocations.

Endorsed by Parañaque Bishop Jesse E. Mercado, D.D. and organized by Congregation of the Rogationist of the Heart of Jesus (RCJ), the event is open to all young people who wish to spend time in Eucharistic adoration and reflection.
