Meycauayan City, Bulacan – In celebration of its 26th anniversary, Teatro Dulahay, a theatre youth group in Sto. Niño Parish in this city performed a play about undying love and guardian angels entitled “Ika’y Laging Yakap sa Habang Buhay,” in the parish hall Nov. 3.

“Our present society is becoming unaware about the true meaning of love,” explained Ana Gianelli Dizon, who wrote the play. “We wish to reveal how God continues to love us in many ways.”

Meanwhile, parish priest Fr. Narciso Sampana commended the efforts of the group in evangelizing the faithful through their performances. “Aside from their audience, these kinds of performances will also have great effect on the personality of these young actors and actresses.”

Directed by Marinella Santiago and Reymart Villamin, the play was shown on:

  • Nov. 3 at 8:00 p.m.
  • Nov. 4 at 3:00 p.m. and 8 p.m.
  • Nov. 5 at 8:00 p.m.

According to Mark Angelo Mariano, president of the group, Teatro Dulahay was established in 1991 and spearheaded by Fr. Alvin Pila with Christian Velarde and other parish youth. It aims to spread the Word of God through theatre and other art forms as well as to help the youth discover and further explore their God-given talents to become effective parish and community servants.

“Teatro Dulahay has been playing a big part in my life and in the development of my talent and personality,” said Santiago. “I hope that more youth feel the passion to serve the church and go through what we have been experiencing in this group.”

Aside from their annual anniversary presentation, Teatro Dulahay also performs in their yearly parish “Senakulo,” summer play, and re-enactment of the birth of Jesus during their Christmas eve Mass. CBCPNews
