PPCRV welcomes Inting as new Comelec commissioner

The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) has welcomed the appointment of Court of Appeals Associate Justice Socorro Inting as the Commission on Elections’ newest commissioner.

Rene Sarmiento, PPCRV national chairperson, said Inting’s long years in the judiciary will be a “big contribution” to the poll body.

“Her being a woman will be a plus factor and will provide added dimension to her being a Comelec commissioner,” he said.

Sarmiento said he once handled a case decades ago before Inting when she was still an regional trial court judge. “I found her to be fair,” he added.

“Finally, her name Socorro, meaning ‘succor,” heralds something positive for the institution. I wish her God’s best as a new Comelec commissioner,” he also said.

Malacanang on April 19 confirmed President Rodrigo Duterte’s appointment of Inting as poll commissioner.

She will serve the poll body until 2025, replacing former Comelec commissioner Arthur Lim who retired last February 2.
