The Diocese of Bayombong has requested prayers for Bishop Jose Elmer Mangalinao as he faces serious health concerns.
Fr. Roberto Oliveros, Jr., the diocese’s chancellor, on Wednesday said the bishop was rushed to a hospital “due to difficulty in breathing”.
“At present, our bishop is in stable condition but was advised to undergo coronary artery heart bypass this coming weekend,” Oliveros said in a circular.
“We ask all our beloved priests, religious, and faithful to offer your masses, Holy Hours, and recitation of the Holy Rosary for the successful operation and fast recovery of our bishop,” he said.
Mangalinao, 62, has been serving as bishop of Bayombong since 2018.
He currently chairs the Episcopal Commission on Catechesis and Catholic Education of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines.
