The Diocese of Bacolod called on the faithful in all parishes and chaplaincies “to enter into a process of renewal using the eyes of faith” this Season of Creation by launching a 40-day communal reflection.
Dubbed as “A 40-day Diocese-wide Communal Reflection: Discerning God’s Message in Time of Covid-19”, the event was launched by Bishop Patricio Buzon on Sept. 1, which also coincided with the celebration of the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation.
The event will conclude on October 11 during the Solemnity of the Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, the secondary patroness of the diocese.
“Just as the number 40 symbolizes a moment or a period of formation in the Bible, so will it be for us who are giving ourselves a sufficient amount of time to purify, to prepare and to renew ourselves as new persons, as new families, and as new people,” Bishop Buzon said in a statement.
He said the activity reinforces the pastoral program of the diocese which calls the faithful to live a “spirituality of stewardship”.
The prelate said he hoped that the formation offered by the 40-day exercise would lead the diocese to what Pope Francis calls as “ecological conversion” and “integral ecology”.
There will also be weekly and thematic activities in the diocese which require the faithful to offer prayers, fasting, abstinence, and works of mercy.
