A church chorale group in central Luzon joined their voices virtually and put together a performance of Saint Padre Pio’s prayer: “Stay with me, Lord”.
The Diocese of Cabanatuan Magnificat Grand Chorale didn’t gather together for the performance since they are practicing social distancing. Still, the choir director got 48 members together virtually.
The members of the choir each recorded their parts of a song to create a video as if they were singing at the same time in one place.
Fr. William Simoun Villaviza, chairman and spiritual director of DCMGC, said they wanted to do something to lift people’s spirits amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“May we be able to bring inspiration and hope in the midst of difficult situation. We have nothing to fear and to worry about because God is always with us,” he said.
Written by Bro. Ferdinand Bautista, the song was based on a prayer of Padre Pio. It was also the official hymn for the visit of the saint’s “incorrupt” heart relic to the Philippines in 2018.
An estimated five million people flocked to venerate the relic in what was touted as one of the largest relic visit events in the church’s history.
