What was Bishop Oliveros last message to the youth?

At the culmination of the recently concluded “Days In the Diocese” (DID), a message written by the late Malolos bishop Jose Oliveros a day before he died was read to the delegates.

“I wish to extend my heart-felt greetings to our youth who participated in our yearly ‘Days In the Diocese’. This is one special occasion where our young people are still responding to God’s call despite the many comforts of living and the temptations of our present times,” reads the message.

The cancer-stricken prelate emphasized the great role of the youth, calling them the hope of both the nation and the Church.

“There is a continuing call, and may you remain responding, my dear youth. There is a saying that you are the hope of the nation. These words are also applicable and existing in our Mother Church because ‘You, my beloved young servant leaders are also the hope of our Church,” he said.

The bishop also lauded the relevance of the event’s theme for the year.

He said: “Your theme ‘#praying… #serving… #witnessing’ is indeed a suiting challenge of the Church to every youth to be an active part of the body of Christ who is deepening one’s prayer life, acting in every appeal to serve, and developing his mind and inner self to become a witness of the Gospel of salvation.”

Oliveros then assured the youth of his “relentless support and prayers,” giving them his blessing.

During his term, Oliveros had always reserved a special place in his heart for the youth, having been an active supporter of youth programs and activities.
