Today’s young people are longing for an authentic and supportive church, a Catholic lay preacher said on Friday.

Bro. Bo Sanchez, founder of Light of Jesus Ministry, said young Catholics need authentic witnesses in order a form relationship with Christ and live the faith.

“That’s what young people need. They need authentic real people, whether it starts through social media and ending up face to face relationship,” Sanchez said.

Basically, the preacher said it is a relationship and “you need to mirror God’s love by loving that person.”

“They will not know God’s love on a theoretical level if they do not experience God’s love through your personal relationship with that person,” he said.

He was responding to a question from Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle about what he thinks are the top challenges that young people are facing, especially from the perspective of evangelization.

The evangelist was among the guests at the “Heart to Heart Talk with Cardinal Chito” segment of this year’s Philippine Conference on New Evangelization at the UST Pavilion in Manila.

Working for 40 years in the ministry, The Feast brought thousands of young people closer to God.

“They need mentors, people who can say three word, ‘come and see,’” he added.

“At the end of the day, God wanted to win the world with his love through your own puny, weak, inadequate, imperfect love in a trusting relationship,” he also said. WITH REPORTS FROM DARLENE ADOREMOS/LCCM-INTERN
