A priest and liturgist of the Archdiocese of Zamboanga died in a vehicular accident around midnight on Thursday.
The deceased is Fr. Alfredo Alabado of the Our Lady of Fatima Parish and director of the archdiocesan liturgical apostolate. He was 54.
In a statement, the archdiocese expressed grief over the death of Fr. Alabado, who was also the Vicar Forane of the Eastern Vicariate.
“We ask for prayers for the eternal repose of his soul,” reads the statement.
The prison ministry of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines also mourned the passing of Fr. Alabado, who formerly served as jail chaplain in the archdiocese.
His wake is held at the city’s Metropolitan Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
